When you get up each morning you really have no idea what your day will bring you. Most of us would like the day to go according to the plans that we have laid out. As you know life has a way of throwing wrenches into the best laid plans. One such event is dealing with your parents as they age. There is a ton of things that can go out of control. On this occasion it is dealing with a parent who is not in control of their own thoughts and sometimes actions. I know this must be extremely frustrating for the parent experiencing this but it also takes a toll on the rest of the family. Watching the person you love slowly deteriorate and there is nothing you can do to stop it. You have to do the best you can to help them through the rough times.
I think this is when you discover what kind of person you are when you have to deal with family in this way. I know not every person is able to deal with some of life's toughest jobs. I have seen many friends just not deal with sick family and tuck them away in a home and forget about them. I find that I cannot do this and in deciding to be strong and take care of everything I have been discovering what kind of person I really am. During this stressful time I have found I am a really strong person and dependable. Now this may be a good thing but hopefully I will not forget to take care of myself during all this.
